Editorial Policy

How Pelvic Vein Guide researches, writes, medically reviews and updates its articles.

Our standards

  1. Evidence-based. We base articles on current clinical guidance and consensus, for example the European Society for Vascular Surgery (ESVS) 2022 guideline on chronic venous disease, the 2021 SVP classification of pelvic venous disorders from the American Vein and Lymphatic Society and partner societies, the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) guideline on chronic pelvic pain, UK NICE interventional procedure guidance and patient information from professional societies such as SIR and CIRSE. We also use peer-reviewed studies and official Singapore sources such as the Ministry of Health.
  2. Honest about the evidence. Research on pelvic venous disorders is still growing, and many studies are small. We say so where the evidence is limited or experts disagree.
  3. Clinically checked. Articles are checked against current guidelines before publishing. Where an article has been reviewed by a registered medical specialist, it is marked “Medically reviewed” with the reviewer’s name and the review date.
  4. Plain language. We write for patients, not doctors. Medical terms are explained the first time they appear and in our glossary.
  5. Balanced. We describe the benefits, risks and limits of each option, including watchful waiting, medicines and other causes of pelvic pain that need to be ruled out.
  6. Sourced and kept current. Each article lists its main sources and is reviewed at least once every 12 months.

What we don’t do

  • We don’t publish patient testimonials, before-and-after photos or guarantees of results.
  • We don’t describe any doctor or clinic as “the best” or make comparative claims.
  • We don’t accept paid placements or sponsored articles from third parties.

These rules follow the spirit of Singapore’s healthcare publicity regulations, which require information about medical services to be factual, accurate and not misleading.

Funding and relationship disclosure

Pelvic Vein Guide is published by a vascular surgeon practising in Singapore. Some articles link to the surgeon’s clinic website as an outside resource. These links do not influence what we write, and they are not a recommendation of that clinic over any other doctor. An article is shown as medically reviewed only when a doctor has actually reviewed that specific article; the byline then names the reviewer and the review date. If an article has no such byline, it has not been reviewed by a doctor.

Corrections

If you spot an error, please let us know. We review every correction request and update the article, and its “updated” date, when a change is needed.
